There is something that I wanted to share with you that has helped me significantly throughout all of the lockdowns and in my ‘normal (what is that anymore?) life. That is my morning routine.

Now let’s get one thing out of the way early, you do not have to be a morning person to have a morning routine. The time you rise has nothing to do with it. It’s what you do when you rise that matters!

What уоu do in the morning sets the tоnе fоr thе rest оf your dаy. Creating an еffесtivе morning routine саn do wonders for your health, your wellbeing and your performance in every aspect of your life.

Your routine is essentially your daily habits that you choose to do to set your day up for success and helps:

  • a more positive mindset,
  • a more pro-active approach to life,
  • greater productivity levels, and
  • a greater sense of control over your day and the demands of others on your time.

Most importantly, your routine will hep with your focus.

Covid and lockdowns have impacted my morning routine. I would generally get up and head to the gym so once I couldn’t do that I had to improvise and start a new routine. I still exercise and I also introduced setting my intention for the day in an effort to support my mindset. This has helped me enormously, particularly when I’m feeling flat, frustrated or challenged.

One thing I have really noticed, particularly now, is when I don’t do my routine for whatever reason is how scattered I can be and my focus is really lacking. I don’t feel the same sense of control as I do when my routine is ticked off.

Your morning routine doesn’t have to be complicated either! It can be as simple as making the bed. My routine is very simple. I get up, make the bed, attend to the cat, drink my green concoction, do exercise, which now always includes a walk outside, set my intention, eat breakfast and drink coffee. In that order – every day! Simple but effective! At least I know I have achieved six things for the day if the rest of it goes to hell!!

If you are struggling for motivation at the moment connect back to your morning routine. Make it simple and make it work for you. You will notice a difference even if it is a small one.
