What Colour Will Reflect Your 2025?

As we step into 2025, I’m thrilled to welcome you to another season of Leading You, and what better way to kick it off than with a splash of creativity and intuition?

Each new year holds the promise of fresh starts and new possibilities, and I love to think of it as a blank canvas. It’s a chance for us to thoughtfully consider what we want to express and achieve in the coming months.

As we greet the new year, let’s cast aside limitations and get excited about the freedom to paint our own blank canvas for 2025, imbued with the colours that resonate with our dreams and ambitions. For this episode, we’ll focus on the symbolism and power of colour in shaping our journey through the year.

Ever since I wrote my book “Busy,” I’ve been captivated by the idea of colours as symbols of who we are and where we’re headed. When hosting workshops, I often ask participants, “What colour best describes you?” I find it fascinating that so many people leap at this opportunity for self-expression—it’s rare for anyone to choose beige. I like to think of beige as the colour of busyness, blandness and lacking vitality. Instead, participants choose vibrant hues, perhaps because colour bypasses language and dives straight into emotion and identity.

For 2025, let’s spend a moment thinking about the colour that will define your canvas. Last year, I chose green for myself—symbolising growth, renewal, and a deep-seated connection to my own identity. Although red would typically be my go-to for its passion and energy, last year felt like the right time for green’s tranquillity and transformative power. Throughout the year, this choice grounded me and reminded me constantly of my goals and the steady peace I found in the colour’s many shades.

So why do colours hold such sway over our moods and aspirations? Across cultures, colours have represented emotions and ideals for centuries. Picture blue for clarity and calm, yellow for joy, or red for courage and passion. Interiors and personal spaces worldwide often reflect these associations, intentionally or otherwise.

Now, imagine your own blank canvas for 2025. What colour first appears? Is it a bold shock of colour ready to energise you or a subtle hue inviting introspection and calm? Perhaps it’s a shifting gradient, embracing life’s complexities.

For me, this year’s colour is gold—a departure from my usual palette. Gold speaks to abundance, light, and boldness, encouraging me to cherish the good in my life while striving for new heights. It’s a harmonious colour that pairs well with others, symbolising a continued openness to the richness of life’s elements.

What colour speaks to you for 2025? What does it signify about your hopes and goals? I’d love for you to share your thoughts with me, perhaps even joining our community conversation on social media with the hashtag #MyColour2025. Remember, your canvas is yours to paint. Whether your chosen colour remains by your side all year or evolves as you journey through, let it be a reflection of your growth and aspirations.
