I want to ask you something. And I want you to actually sit with it for a moment.
When was the last time your mind was genuinely quiet?
Not on holiday. Not after a glass of wine. Just… quiet. Switched off. Present.
If you’re struggling to answer that, you’re not alone. Right now I’m seeing it everywhere. Leaders, business owners, high performers, all running at full capacity and telling themselves the same thing: it will slow down soon.
But here’s what I’ve been reminded of lately. Waiting for things to slow down is not a strategy. And it’s definitely not leadership.
The problem is not your calendar. It’s your head.
There’s a particular kind of busyness that doesn’t show up in your schedule. It’s the mental noise. The constant thinking. The inability to switch off even when you technically have the space to.
When that becomes your baseline, something quietly starts to shift. Your thinking gets heavier. Your energy drops. Everything feels harder than it should. And without realising it, you’re heading somewhere you really don’t want to go.
You don’t reset by doing more.
I recently stepped away for a couple of days. Nothing dramatic. Just intentional space in a place that felt grounding.
When I came back, nothing external had changed. Same workload. Same demands. Same inbox.
But I had. And that changed how everything felt.
You don’t need a two-week holiday to reset. You need intentional space. A day. A weekend. Even a few hours in the right environment can completely shift your clarity, your energy and how you show up.
Your energy is your responsibility.
Not your workload’s. Not your calendar’s. Yours.
And the question worth asking right now is not: what do I need to get done?
It’s: what do I actually need right now?
Because when you take responsibility for that, everything else starts to shift too.
