Why Is Not The Answer.

word why cut from newspaper isolated on whiteThere is a great quote by George Bernard Shaw: “Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.”

True.

The business environment has changed significantly over the past couple of years. Competition is furious, demands on time are ruthless and clients are more educated than they were ever before.  So why is it that people choose to operate in the same manner they did in the past and expect the same results?

People often ask the question ‘why?’ Why is this happening? Why can’t we reach our targets? Why aren’t we doing better? I’m sure you can justify it and come up with many reasons but is this really helping you? It’s important to understand the why but to get stuck on it is not resourceful.

Personally, I am sick of the question why, particularly when people speak of wanting things to change.

So I challenge you to ask yourself a different question starting with either ‘what’ or ‘how’. Ask yourself questions that inspire problem solving, decision making and action. You know that for something to change you must do things differently even if they are confronting and uncomfortable.

Decide to be different, decide to be a true leader and lead people through the change that is going to make them more successful. People are yearning for a leader to be a great role model for change. It’s necessary. It’s important. It’s your decision.
