I’m not sure what possessed me to do so but I wanted to look back at what I was doing this day last year. It was a very different time for us in Victoria. We were in the midst of another harsh, long lockdown. Even though I was locked up in the house with my husband, I still managed to have a jam-packed diary, which looks very different to how it looks today.
In fact, when I looked at the 7th September 2021, I felt really overwhelmed! Clearly, I was squirreling away working to elevate the business whilst also focusing on delivery but boy, did I pack a lot into a day!
Today my diary looks very different and I pondered on how I felt about that. Do I feel less purposeful? Do I feel less important or successful?
The answer is a firm no!
In fact, I feel more purposeful and more motivated. Because the actions I am taking today are intentional. They are intentional in supporting my leadership and also to support my health – these are my priorities.
It’s interesting that we look to a diary to provide an indication of our success level. It links back to the busy belief. The busier we are the more successful we must be. I call BS on that. I may have been successful professionally, but I wasn’t winning personally. There was something I was choosing to ignore because I didn’t have time to deal with it at the time. Or so I believed. Do you know what I mean?
I didn’t have my priorities in check back then. But I do now. That’s what matters. It’s never too late to make a change.
