Why You Need Plan B

Throughout my years in business, I have always been a fan of having a contingency plan in place. If something doesn’t work then I know what steps to take next. This is similar to any leadership strategies I implemented. I believe it’s an important part of leadership and business because let’s face it, sh*t happens and not everything goes to plan.

Sometimes life doesn’t quite go the way you intended either. I certainly received that memo loud and clear last year! Perhaps you have experienced a situation where you had to work through a major hurdle or road block along the way too?

This is why understanding the steps to take to implement your Plan B is so important. It doesn’t just have to be because of a health scare, it might be a relationship breakdown, leaving a job or losing a loved one as an example.

One thing I have learnt is the power of having a Plan B. It enabled me to gain a sense of control over something that I had no control over and focus my way forward. It also helped me understand that it was ok to feel all the emotions I was feeling about how my life used to be as opposed to how it looks now.

My podcast guest this week is the expert in this space and has authored the book ‘Plan B’. Shannah Kennedy has her own experience of having to work out her Plan B and shares tips on how to do this during our chat.

To be honest, whilst I still wish that I did not need a Plan B, I am grateful to have it and Shannah’s tips certainly helped me.
