This week on the ‘Making It Count’ podcast I thought I would re-introduce myself as well as share some insights for leaders as our attention turns to the new year. I am Julie Hyde and I believe that heart-led leaders make the world a better place for all. When we role model positive and empowering leadership we show others what is possible. When we step up and stand in our spotlight, and have the confidence to lead authentically, that is where the magic happens. And, this is where we grow. This is the driving force behind what I do, and the reason I began this Podcast. I wanted to share the insights of those who are the leadership life-blood of our community.
I have learnt first hand what it takes to be an effective leader over my 21-year award-winning career. I work with leaders who want to be strong and effective role models who enable their team to shine. Leadership is now about people. This is a shift we have seen in the last 2 years. We have all been effectively forced to a period of reflection and re-set, people have emerged very differently. We have seen the shift to working from home and that it can be done well. All of these changes mean we cannot return to the ‘normal pre-pandemic’ workforce. How, when, and where people want to work has changed. Leaders who have accepted this change see 55% of their work-force as high performers.
Currently is a huge mis-alignment between what leaders are wanting and what their workforce is wanting in how they work. By becoming a relevant, open leader who is flexible and agile, we are more likely to retain staff in this era of ‘the great resignation’. The employment market in Australia right now is so tight. People have a new perspective and want their personal lives to reflect this change. As leaders, we have to think differently and reimagine what the workforce and workplace looks like within our organisations.
So, the question becomes how can we move with these changes? Recognise that your people are the power in your business. If you are not aligned with your people, you are playing a losing game. Working with your people to find alignment is the best way to fail-safe your business for 2022.
