Achieving what you want to achieve often requires embarking on a new journey, bridging the gap from here, where you are today, to there, where you want to be in the future. This can come with a fair amount of pressure too!

However, sometimes success can come from simply eliminating something old rather than adding in something new.

If you breathed a sigh of relief in reading that, you’re not alone.

As Oprah Winfrey says “One of the hardest things in life to learn is which bridges to cross and which bridges to burn.”

This is the decision that successful people make. They choose the bridges to cross very carefully and assess if in fact they are necessary to cross.

If you are perhaps stuck in your comfort zone, not a successful as you’d like to be, not achieving your goals fast enough or the task ahead look incredibly overwhelming, consider what bridge you can burn to make it a little easier and much more focused.

These can be bridges like:

  • Worrying about what other people think
  • Trying to please everyone
  • Waiting until something is perfect
  • Waiting until the time is right
  • Coming up with that BIG idea
  • Overcomplicating your strategy
  • Waiting until you know more

We can often get stuck on believing that we have to do more, be more, want more and create more. When often the answer lies in stripping it back and simplifying things.

Life and business is complex enough without adding to it unnecessarily! Take some time to reflect on what bridge you can burn to get you closer to your goals. It’s quite liberating!
